For peopleIn progress
Prove who you are once.
Most people verify their identity again for every bank, network and landlord, handing over the same documents each time. With Aegis, a verification becomes a credential the person holds. The next organisation asks for it, the person agrees, and only what was asked leaves the phone.
Verify once
A verification the person keeps.
When a tenant verifies someone, Aegis can issue the result to them as a verifiable credential. It is on for every tenant by default, and it belongs to the person, not to the organisation that checked it.
- Issued to the person
- The outcome of a verification, signed by Aegis and held in the person’s wallet, on open formats any conformant wallet can hold.
- Built
- National identities accepted
- A person who already holds a national digital identity or a mobile driving licence can present it instead of starting from scratch.
- In progress
- Revocable, never stale
- If the underlying facts change, the credential is revoked; a verifier checks its status at the moment of use.
- Built
Reuse with consent
Nothing moves without a yes.
Reuse between organisations is decided claim by claim by Symbolon, and every decision starts with the person’s consent. The second organisation asks only for what it does not already trust.
- Consent first
- A tenant can rely on another’s verification only after the person agrees, for that purpose, and the agreement is recorded.
- Built
- Only what is asked
- Selective disclosure shares single claims. An age check learns a yes, not a birth date.
- Built
- No phoning home
- Presenting a credential never tells the issuer where it was used. That is the holder’s business alone.
- Built
- Approved on the device
- Every presentation is approved by the person on their phone, with the key held in its secure hardware.

Rights in hand
Every privacy right, without asking anyone.
Under POPIA and the GDPR a person may see what is held about them, take it with them, correct it and have it erased. Aegis handles those as typed requests across the services that hold their data.
- See and export
- A copy of what is held, gathered from each service, in one machine-readable archive.
- Built
- Object and withdraw
- Objection and consent withdrawal recorded and honoured from that moment on.
- Built
- Correct
- Rectification as a request with an owner and a deadline, not an email.
- Planned
- Erase
- Erasure coordinated across the services that hold the person, each answering for its own store, so a replay cannot bring them back.
- In progress
- A self-service view
- The person’s own view of their credentials, consents and requests.
- Planned
Build on identity that is proven, not assumed.
Aegis is built by Protoworks and offered to partners on request. Tell us what you need to verify, issue or accept, and we will show you the platform running.
